We are often asked whether we offer a match treatment for our Prefit's...

Match treatment is HST in HST . However, it differs greatly from what is commonly understood as match treatment in the field.

This treatment often refers to the manual polishing of the cartridge chamber, including the rifling profile. The primary aim of this treatment is to smooth out the grooves (microscopic "scratches") that occur across the axis of the barrel bore. Depending on the manufacturing process, these may be absent or very pronounced.

We use button-drawn blanks from Lothar Walther for our standard Prefit's. Due to the manufacturing process, these do not show any relevant cross-scratches, which means that the only thing that remains to be clarified is the situation in the cartridge chamber and transition cone. It is common practice to machine the cartridge chamber and transition cone using reamers. The cutting direction is necessarily orthogonal to the barrel bore axis (except for the helical angle offset caused by the feed), which is why unwanted transverse grooves usually occur. These are then largely eliminated by Gunsmith match treatment by hand polishing.

We have rethought the process and integrated it into upstream manufacturing steps. This eliminates human tolerance and replaces it with significantly more consistent processes.

All HST are therefore already "match-grade" as standard and ready for your plans.
