This is a precautionary measure that ensures that the cartridge does not come into contact with the ejector when locked. This prevents the cartridge from being pushed into the magazine indefinitely and becoming jammed. This increases precision in the long term and has no effect on the ejection of the Brass. The conditions are therefore the same as for many benchrest rifles.
